Energy and climate change

Transition to sustainable energy

What could be nicer after a hard day’s work than a warm shower? The Dutch oil and gas industry ensures that all those in the country can enjoy just that, and more. Yet since the seventies, people have become more conscious of the fact that that current sources of energy are not unlimited and that burning fossil fuels contributes to climate change.

Energy and climate

The oil and gas sector is naturally at the centre of the debate on energy and climate. It is clear that a transition to sustainable energy must occur. In the transition phase, gas is the cleanest possible fossil fuel. In consultation with the national government, the sector is taking on its responsibility to produce this needed gas as cleanly, efficiently and safely as possible.

Possible synergies

At the same time the sector is researching the possibilities of CO2 storage, and possible synergy between offshore gas production and creating and operating offshore wind farms.
