Energy - clean and efficient

Everyone in the Netherlands uses energy, which to a great extent comes from oil and gas. Everyone in the Netherlands thus benefits from the contributions made by oil and gas production to national welfare. But the art naturally lies in producing this energy in as safe and clean manner as possible.

Preventing pollution

The oil and gas sector does not regard its work separately from its commitment to environmental responsibility and thus makes best efforts to minimise the effects of its work on the environment. Everything is done to prevent pollution of air, water and soil. In this challenge the sector works closely with national, regional and local authorities.

Environmental covenant

As an example, governement and industry have been working on implementation of agreements in a long term environmental covenant. Cooperation between industry and government is continued in the Consultation Platform Oil and Gas. Operators are committed to improve energy efficiency in oil and gas activities. To this end, operators are cooperating in a long term agreement on energy efficiency. Further improvement of environmental performance is also taking place on a European and on an international level.
